Board of Directors

The Board of Directors of the Women’s Drum Center acts in cooperation with the Executive Director and staff to further the mission of the organization.

The Role of the WDC Board

  • Establish long-range goals and guide organizational planning

  • Develop general administration policies:

    Oversee and conduct an annual performance review of the WDC Executive Director

  • Participate in fundraising

  • Be a steward of the WDC’s financial resources:

    Review and approve the budget, Determine and approve staff salaries, Monitor cash flow throughout the fiscal year, and Decide on banking establishment

  • Review program reports and provide counsel on marketing, business, and programming as needed

  • Be an advocate of the Women’s Drum Center

WDC Board Member Responsibilities

  • Board members shall serve a two-year term, renewable as deemed appropriate. 

  • Attend at least 9 board meetings per year, including one Annual Meeting

  • Communicate with the Board Chair about planned absences from board activities

  • Attend at least 2 WDC events or performances per year (offerings on the website)

  • Volunteer their time and skills to enhance the Women's Drum Center

  • Contribute financially according to one’s means

  • Disclose potential conflicts of interest to the Board Chair
